The Energy Innovation Fund – Round 3 is now open, offering $10 million in grant funding to help Victoria’s food and beverage processors and manufacturers electrify their operations. This round supports projects that replace fossil fuel systems with efficient electric technologies, driving decarbonisation and supporting Victoria’s net-zero target by 2045.
Who is this for?
This round is designed for Victorian businesses in the food and beverage manufacturing sector that want to:
- Electrify industrial processes currently reliant on fossil fuels
- Reduce carbon emissions and energy costs
- Demonstrate leadership in sustainable food and beverage production
The Energy Innovation Fund supports the commercialisation of innovative, emerging renewable energy technologies in Victoria, required to meet the net-zero emissions by 2045 target.
The fund is being delivered in multiple rounds.
- Round 3 is dedicated to industrial electrification, with a focus on the food and beverage processing and manufacturing sector.
- Round 2 (Closed) was open to any renewable technology type that can support Victoria’s net-zero emissions by 2045 target.
- Round 1 (Closed) was dedicated to offshore wind.
What funding is available?
- A total pool of $10 million is available in Round 3
- Grants are capped at $2 million per project
- Funding can cover up to 50% of eligible project costs, with applicants providing the other 50% (cash or approved in-kind contribution)
What can it be used for?
Funding must be used for capital projects that electrify industrial operations in the food & beverage sector. Examples include:
- Replacing gas boilers with electric boilers or heat pumps
- Installing electric dryers, ovens, or other process heating systems
- Integrating thermal storage and energy efficiency upgrades
- Grid connections or electrical upgrades directly linked to project delivery

Eligibility
You can apply if you:
- Operate a business in Victoria’s food and beverage processing or manufacturing sector
- Are an Australian incorporated entity (or consortium with a lead entity)
- Have the financial capacity to co-fund at least 50% of project costs
- Can deliver a commercially-ready project using technologies that are proven and scalable
